Sweet Pal closes its beta: App Store release is near

Sweet Pal, the AI companion for people living with type 1 diabetes, has closed its beta phase and is getting ready for release on the App Store for iPhone.

Sweet Pal, the AI companion for people living with type 1 diabetes, has closed its beta phase. The iPhone app now enters the last stretch before its public release on the App Store: final checks, then publication.

What Sweet Pal is

Sweet Pal is a native iPhone app you use by talking to it. You write the way you speak ("pasta with tomato sauce, a normal plate"), send a photo of your meal or a voice note, say how you feel. The app understands, logs it and puts the numbers in order: meals, boluses, movement, glucose. Day after day it notices what keeps coming back and tells you about it, and when there is too little data, it says so.

Next to the chat there is a simulator showing how the curve might move with a meal, a bolus or a walk, an estimate of the next hours with its margin of uncertainty, and a view of the day and the week.

What the beta brought

After the alpha programme in May 2026, the beta put the app in the hands of people living with type 1 diabetes, every day, with their real data. The work of these weeks focused on three things: the speed of the chat, the reliability of the calculations, and the clarity of what the app says and doesn't say. We described part of that work on the blog, in Decide first, speak later.

The principles stay the same

  • It doesn't decide for the people who use it. It calculates, shows and remembers; the choices stay with the person and their diabetes team. The model is instructed never to suggest insulin units.
  • It doesn't pretend to know. It's an AI and doesn't hide it: when the data isn't enough, it says so.
  • The data belongs to its owner. It can be read, exported and deleted; analysis only runs with explicit consent.

Availability

Sweet Pal will be available on the App Store for iPhone. At launch the app speaks Italian. The release date will be announced here, in the newsroom: subscribers to newsroom updates will receive it by email.
